These benches are nearby the boulevard in Scheveningen. The backs have pictures set in them that are from the Vis Booc van Adriaen Coenensz (1514 - 1587). A man from Scheneningen, he made his life from fishing and all things to do with the sea. In later life he wished to pass on his knowledge and experience and so he made books, the first of which he presented to Prince William of Orange in 1574. He went on to make more between 1577 and 1581. There are four benches with pictures set into the backs. The original books are kept in the Royal Library in The Hague and more information can be found on their website.
